I think once you are aware of these issues, it is easy to take the right steps. My personal facebook has custom high privacy settings, and I helped my parents set their facebooks up the same way. Theres always important ways to protect your information and keep it personal, a mature user should be aware of these before sharing info, networking, or using the internet to purchase goods.
